Foodie Friday-Getting Wild With My Dutch Oven

Not really a recipe... just a declaration of my walk on the wild side while camping.

I had a turkey in my freezer.  I had/have a perfectly seasoned Dutch Oven.  So I figured what the heck and went for it.

I don't really have any before pictures.  In full disclosure... I had to do a little turkey mutilation in order to squeeze it into my dutch oven.  I had to hack the sucker in half at the breast bone.  Remove a wing... and just wedge it in there.  So instead of photographing the carnage... I was covered in turkey goo.  It wasn't my finest moment.  And I may have had a nervous breakdown while hacking away at the poor bird.

Added some charcoal... in the fine hole Brian dug for me.

Cooked for a couple of hours and....

Voila!!!

I wish these were scratch and sniff photos.

Crispy skin, tender veggies, and moist meat.  DELISH!

I found myself a handsome fella to carve it up...
and we enjoyed.

Have a great weekend full of turkey dreams and gravy wishes.
